Abi is studying Sport & Exercise Psychology at Loughborough University, and joined us for a Sports placement in Australia, in 2024-25.

What’s your background (which uni / course)?
Sport & Exercise Psychology at Loughborough University.
Why did you choose to do a Sports placement in Australia placement as part of your degree?
Feel that it will give me experience in real life jobs and help me to decide what I want to do in the future.
How did you first discover us?
Through the university sending out a link.
Were you finding it hard to find a placement?
I hadn’t really started looking before deciding to use placement year company.
Did you think this was unachievable on your own?
Not unachievable, but it was helpful having the help.
Why did you choose Placement Year International over other services?
I knew I wanted to do a placement abroad and having help to find the best suited one put less pressure on the process.
How easy was the process from interview to getting to your placement with our help?
It was very easy and made it less stressful. It was also helpful as made sure I didn’t miss out any steps along the way.

What are you doing for your placement?
Spending 6 months in Adelaide working with an Australian national cycling team.
What is your role?
Events placement student.
What skills or knowledge have you gained so far during your placement?
- Excel skills
- Use of data entry websites
- Planning and executing events
Did you find it difficult adapting to a new working environment?
Not overly, everyone is really nice so it made it easier to fit in.
Have you received good support & advice from your work colleagues at the host company?
Yes.
How has your placement helped you develop as a person so far?
- Increased my confidence
- Better manage my time and create a good work and life balance

If you were to recommend us to friends, what would you say?
I would recommend you and say that it is helpful to have a team of people making sorting a placement less stressful. I would tell them how nice the team are and that they have really made my experience of finding a placement run smoothly and it is definitely worth looking into using your company if considering a placement.
