How much free time is there?

Hospitality schedules vary and may include mornings, evenings, weekends or rotating shifts. You’ll have free time outside your agreed placement hours, although your days off may fall during the week rather than always at weekends.

You decide how many days / week you do the placement. Tell us when you join and we’ll agree it with the host company before you arrive.

How far in advance should I apply?

The earlier the better!

Our most popular placements are often booked up many months in advance.

Most people join us 6 to 12 months before their start date. This allows enough time to arrange your placement and prepare for your move to Australia.

Normally the minimum is at least 2-3 months before your preferred start date.

If you’re hoping to travel quicker, please contact us and we’ll do our best to help.

What’s the booking process?

Complete our online booking form and pay the £200 Acceptance fee at the end of the form. The next working day we will email to confirm your place and send more information.

We’ll then begin arranging your tailored placement and contact you to discuss your experience, career goals and preferred start date.

Once your placement is confirmed, we’ll guide you through the remaining preparations before you travel.

You’ll have plenty of 1-1 video calls / whatsapps with our staff in Brighton – it’s a nice friendly personalised service. You always have chance to ask your questions and we welcome parents to contact us so they feel part of the process too.

Are placements paid?

Pay and benefits vary between hospitality host companies and roles. Some placements may include an hourly wage, allowance, meals on duty or other benefits, while others may be unpaid; it will all be confirmed in your individual placement offer.

If your placement is unpaid, we can arrange a reduced placement schedule of 2, 3, or 4 days per week, giving you flexibility to take a separate part-time paid job alongside your placement. Doing a part-time paid job for 2 days / week normally gives enough income to cover living costs. Hospitality placements may involve shift work, so this arrangement must be agreed in advance.

Some host organisations may offer a small allowance or other benefits like daily commuting costs or lunch, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Can the placement form part of my degree?

Yes. Many students complete their placement as part of a placement year, internship module or work experience requirement.

We regularly work with universities and can tailor placements to meet academic requirements where possible.

Can you complete my university paperwork?

Yes. We’re happy to complete any placement documentation required by your university and liaise directly with your placement or employability team where necessary.

Will I need a visa?

Yes, most likely.

It depends on your passport nationality.

Most participants complete their placement on an Australian Working Holiday Visa, which allows eligible young people to live and work in Australia for up to 12 months.

We’ll provide guidance on the visa application process and help you understand the requirements before you apply.
