Hospitality placements in UK
Whilst most people join us overseas, we also arrange bespoke hotel placements in the UK.
We work with hotels across the country from busy city centre hotels popular with international business travellers and tourists, to luxury countryside retreats and boutique spa hotels.
Your hospitality placement in the UK
We make it simple.
We save you the time and stress of applying to many different hotels. Simply join our programme and we do the rest.
We give your profile to our partner hotels, arrange interviews, confirm contracts and arrangements for pay, accommodation and food and we support you with regular calls and visits throughout your placement.
Roles include the following areas: Culinary Arts, Front Office and Guest Relations, Restaurant Management, Food Service, Concierge, Events & Catering. Rotations can also be arranged sometimes if you want to learn about more than one area of the hotel.
If you want to gain experience in areas such as Sales & Marketing, Business development, Social Media Management, PR and other broader business functions then please click here for more information about business placements worldwide.
Who can join our hospitality placements in the UK?
Hospitality placements in the UK are available to university students, recent graduates and those already working in the hospitality industry. Accepted degrees include:
- Culinary Arts
- Events Management
- Hospitality Management
- Hotel Management
- Tourism Management
We can sometimes accept students or graduates of other degrees, such as Business, Languages etc, if you have at least 6 months’ work experience in the hospitality industry and want to gain some international experience to help develop your future career and make your CV stand out.
To do your placement in the UK you must also either:
- Hold a British, Australian or EU passport
- If you are from outside the UK/EU, you must have a current UK student visa for a degree course which includes a placement year (this allows you to work legally in the UK during your placement year)
Professional training
We ensure your training experience in the UK is professionally managed.
You will have a local work supervisor. This is normally the HR Manager or head of department. They are your main daily contact for any queries about the job role you may have. They will manage your work schedule and support you in your daily tasks and responsibilities. They will also give you feedback on your work which should help to develop your career skills.
If you work hard and impress your colleagues there’s a chance you may be offered further work opportunities at the end of your placement.

Accommodation
Our interns doing Hospitality placements in the UK either live in private rented accommodation or staff accommodation at their hotel.
If your host company has it’s own staff accommodation then you may have the option of living there with other staff from your company (subject to availability). Alternatively, you will rent accommodation nearby using your monthly salary. Food will usually be provided in a staff canteen when you’re on-shift.
Orientations & Staff support
You will receive a pre-placement call from our UK office before starting your UK hospitality placement. This will help you prepare for your first day at work, your new role and life on placement in the UK.
Then your work supervisor will do a thorough orientation around the hotel, introduce you to your new work colleagues and settle you into your accommodation (if provided by the hotel) on your first day.
Those coming from outside the UK will also receive a briefing about cultural differences, especially those which could affect your new work life. This will help you adjust to life in a different culture which helps ensure you have an enjoyable and worthwhile trip.
Our UK staff will check on your progress by email and Skype calls and are on hand 24/7 for emergencies. If you join as part of your degree we will also communicate directly with your university Placement Office when necessary.
Health and safety
Your safety is our first priority.
We complete comprehensive checks before you arrive and if you join as part of your degree, we will help ensure that your university health and safety documents are checked and signed by your hospitality placement in the UK.
This means your university is able to verify the work placement meets their criteria. We work directly with universities on this.
We also work with a great insurance provider, who offer a comprehensive working holiday travel insurance policy. We will share this information with you to make you feel at ease during your trip.
