Richard Clowes
Director
Richard has arranged work placements since 2000.
Ever since completing a 1 year work placement in India, Richard has believed in the tremendous value of living and working overseas. His work has taken him to many of Asia’s most exciting countries. Since 2000 he’s developed an outstanding network of placements for students and graduates.
Now Richard enjoys offering other people the chance to experience different cultures for themselves while developing their skills and being part of exciting development.
He spends his free time taking part in triathlons, kayaking, sailing and improving his photography.
Tammie Smith
Placement Consultant
A psychology graduate, Tammie is also a competitive cheerleader.
Always very active and up for trying new things, Tammie has been lucky enough to experience living in Australia as well as travelling through Thailand. She loves visiting new countries, even for just a few days at a time, and learning new things.
In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym, painting, walking, baking and seeing her friends.
KCS Kumar
Administration Executive
KC graduated in Business Administration, and also has a Master degree in Psychology.
“KC”, as he is known, started working part time at the age of 16 alongside his school and university studies. Before working with Placement Year International, he gained 10 years of work experience as Admin Manager in an international volunteering organisation. KC is very passionate to work as an Administrator, and also studies Human Behaviour and Counselling. He spends his free time with his wife and children, and also watches movies, reads detective novels, rides his bike, listens to music, sees his friends and plays cricket.
Charisse Fourie
Social Media Manager
Charisse lives in sunny Cape Town, South Africa, and has worked in marketing and advertising for the past 15 years.
Charisse is our Social Media Manager has a passion for working with ethical businesses. In between looking after her two young children, she runs our social media pages, writes blogs and sends out our newsletters. When she isn’t behind the computer doing our status updates and posting photos received from our international interns, she is out trail running on the Cape’s epic mountain trails and cooking up exotic meals for her friends.
Sheyla Flores
Placement Consultant
Sheyla studied Msc Strategic Innovation Management at the University of Sussex.
She has experience in the recruitment and consulting sector by working at a media start-up company in London which helped her understand the value of placements and how these can have an impact on students’ well-being and experience.
Through her volunteering work for non-profit charities such as UNICEF she also gained extensive experience in customer service.
Sheyla is very into photography and art. She likes spending her free time by going out with friends and petting dogs!
