Ellie is studying Accounting and Finance at Aston University and working with a law firm based in Sydney with a focus on Commercial law.

Why did you choose to do a placement as part of your degree?
A chance to gain experience of a working environment
Why did you choose Australia?
It was something new that if I didn’t choose to go now then I don’t know when I may have gotten this opportunity again

What skills or knowledge have you gained during your placement?
I learned how to communicate in a professional way with my colleagues, as well as how to integrate myself in a new environment.
Did you find it difficult adapting to a new working environment?
It was a bit difficult in the beginning but by the third week I was fully accustomed to my new lifestyle
Have you received much support and advice from your work colleagues in Australia?
They have recommended places that I should go and see as well as taking me out for lunches to be able to get accustomed to where I may be able to find good food.
How has your placement helped you develop as a person?
I believe that it has allowed me to mature and live individually compared to if I were to have stayed in the same country.
Why did you choose Placement Year International?
When looking at their website it stood out to me that they were more professional looking and are able to provide me with the help that I needed in order to be able to go abroad.
